About us
Rural Development Organization (RDO) is a non-profit,
non-governmental, grassroot organization registered under Voluntary Social
Welfare Agencies (Registration & Control) Ordinance 1961, updated later in
2012. RDO is committed to uplifting marginalized communities in Punjab,
Pakistan through advocacy, awareness, and community empowerment. Since its establishment in 2004RDO has been
working to protect human and child rights, improve access to quality education,
skills development, climate change provide humanitarian assistance, gender
equality and emergency relief services, promote agricultural development and
sustainable positive change in society.
We believe that human and child rights are foundation of just
society, and gender equality is the key indicator of progressive society.
In education, RDO upholds that no child should be deprived
of this fundamental right due to the lack of adequate access and resources. .
Our programs are designed to improve enrolment, learning outcomes, and support
for both in-school and out-of-school children, especially in the most remote
and underserved areas.
Recognizing the fact stated by Ministry of Finance,
Government of Pakistan that 65-70% of the population relies on agriculture for
their livelihood; RDO actively promotes sustainable farming practices, food
security, and economic wellbeing for small and destitute farmers. We view
agricultural development as integral to poverty alleviation, employment generation,
environmental sustainability, and climate change
Over the years, RDO has expanded its focus to include
initiatives in health, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), environmental
protection, and disaster response. Our community-driven, participatory approach
ensures that the voices of the most vulnerable—particularly women, children,
and youth—are at the center of our development strategies.
RDO has been actively engaged in providing emergency relief
services, and humanitarian assistance to the victims of natural disasters to
reduce their vulnerabilities, build resilience, reduce poverty and improve
wellbeing.
Looking ahead, RDO envisions expanding its operations across the country to further its mission of inclusive sustainable development.

RDO focuses on participatory development by
actively involving communities, especially women, in decision-making and
leadership roles. The organization emphasizes optimal use of local
resources—human, material, and financial—to strengthen community groups and

Education
Education is a cornerstone of RDO’s
work, exemplified by the establishment of the Asad Public Girls School &
College. Serving over 400 students annually from nursery through graduations,
the institute offers affordable quality education to girls from surrounding
rural areas. We also focused on non-formal education to empower children from
depressed communities.
4.
Health
RDO addresses critical health
challenges faced by rural populations, such as limited access to maternal and
child healthcare. Through the operation of a free dispensary and periodic
medical camps, thousands of patients receive treatment annually. The
organization plans to expand healthcare services by establishing a dedicated
Maternal and Child Health (MCH) center, aiming to reduce mortality and improve
health outcomes in the community.

Environmental Protection & Natural Resource Management
RDO promotes sustainable natural
resource management through community participation, focusing on agriculture,
forestry, water conservation, and livestock management. The organization also
explores renewable energy solutions to combat deforestation and energy
shortages in remote areas. By integrating environmental sustainability into its

Work History
Rural
Development Organization (RDO) was established with a commitment to uplift and empower
marginalized and vulnerable communities, particularly focusing on the
socio-economic wellbeing of the depressed communities. Since its inception, RDO
has designed and executed a range of community development programs aimed at
poverty alleviation, human rights protection, education promotion, and
infrastructure improvement. Its programs are built around integrated,
participatory approaches that engage local communities in the planning and
implementation of projects to ensure sustainability and local ownership.
Education
has remained a flagship area for RDO, driven by the belief that no child should be
deprived of schooling due to poverty or remoteness. The organization runs Asad
Public School and College for poor and marginalized children and implements
various initiatives for pre-school education, learning support for both
in-school and out-of-school children, and mainstreaming of dropouts.
Beyond
education, RDO’s thematic focus extends to youth development, women’s
empowerment, health, WASH, environmental protection, disaster response, and
agricultural development. Special attention is given to skills development

In the coming
years, RDO aims to expand its outreach across other provinces and regions of
Pakistan, including Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, The organization’s future plans is focused on
scaling up its programs leading to healthy, inclusive, and prosperous society.
